IASA Dosimetry Laboratory

Besides supporting the radiation safety & dose monitoring program of IASA, the Dosimetry Laboratory is actively engaged in research using computational and experimental dosimetry techniques with particular focus on the application and quality assurance of contemporary radiation therapy.

The two major ongoing research projects are Brachytherapy Dosimetry and Polymer Gel Dosimetry .

The IASA SPECT Laboratory

The Single Photon Emission Computer Tomography (SPECT) Lab of IASA is involved in Nuclear Imaging Research with high resolution gamma-cameras based on position sensitive photomultipliers (PSPMTs). The development of dedicated sensitive systems for radiopharmaceutical research and clinical applications is the main activity of the Group. It includes optimization studies on new scintillation crystalls and collimation techniques, development of fast analog readout electronics and data acquisition systems, as well as the on-line improvement of planar images.

The main research interests of the Group are focused on the:

Evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals in small animals
Spatial resolution & sensitivity studies for homogeneous and pixelated scintillation materials
Development of fast Data-Acquisition systems based on modern and commercially available electronics
Improvement and development of new tomographic reconstruction algorithms for SPECT
Simulation Studies
