Introduction:

Magnetic fields play a very important role in the science of physics (ex. particle accelerators), medicine (ex. NMR) and generally in every sector where modern technology has invaded. In many cases, the accurate knowledge of the magnetic field distribution in space is needed. The magnetLAB group has developed an automatic magnetic field mapping device, which can 3D-map the non-time-changing magnetic field of a selected area, by dividing it into several 2D planes. The output data of this device are used to design and to test special magnetic systems such as bending magnets for the beam transport of the 10 MeV CW-LINAC, which is also being developed at IASA.
