Personnel Dosimetry

Personnel dosimetry is accomplished with a combination of personnel dosimeters and personnel exposure rate monitoring. Personnel dosimeters are usually of the type of film badges, TLD dosimeters and digital dosimeters assigned to each occupationally exposed person. For the time being we use digital Victoreen Personal dosimeters Model 885, which have an operating range of 1 mR to 999 mR with an audible chirp per 0.025 mR.

Also, for personnel dosimetry purposes, measurements of exposure rates and exposure times are made at positions very close to personnel during the course of work in a radiation field. This is accomplished with the use of portable survey meters, which apart from indicating radiation exposure rate, can be set to integrating mode to measure exposure for a period of time.
